MAKE PLANS TO EXPERIENCE PLAZA DE LA FAMILIA, A CELEBRATION OF DISNEY•PIXAR’S ‘COCO’

Guests are invited to bring their family and friends to discover Plaza de la Familia, an all-new festivity beginning Sept. 15, 2017 at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure® Park that celebrates Disney·Pixar’s “Coco” and the everlasting bonds of family.

A highlight of Plaza de la Familia is “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” featuring an entertaining group of storytellers and original songs from “Coco” in a performance of dance and music. Our singing host, Mateo, is joined by an ensemble of Folklórico dancers and the GRAMMY®-winning Mariachi Divas, bringing to vibrant life three of the film’s enchanting songs.

In addition to daily performances of “A Musical Celebration of Coco” at Plaza de la Familia, guests will also enjoy authentic Mariachi music on the Paradise Gardens Bandstand, The World of Coco exhibit, a Tree of Life interactive photo location and a delicious all-new menu of Mexican foods. Plaza de la Familia is inspired by the beautiful tradition of Día de los Muertos that celebrates loved ones who have passed and honors the familial bonds that last forever.

Details – Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark at Disney’s California Adventure

Fans were thrilled when Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opened in May at Disney California Adventure Park, and now they’re in for a scary Halloween treat as the attraction is transformed nightly into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. During the day, guests continue to experience the excitement, fun and six different ride experiences on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! However, each evening the attraction transforms from Mission: BREAKOUT! to Monsters After Dark. The Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound and all-new lighting on the exterior of the Fortress alerts guests that something inside has gone awry.

As guests enter the Lobby of the Fortress, they will be startled by flashing alarms and creepy sounds – warning signs that creatures have escaped their vitrines (glass cages) and all kinds of chaos is erupting. The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, tries to keep calm by reassuring guests that all is in order, and this is just a momentary setback.

In keeping with the dark humor of the experience, an all-new 1970s-style punk rock song, “Monsters After Dark,” enhances the thrill of the experience. The song was written especially for this attraction by Tyler Bates, composer for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.

Halloween at Disney California Adventure Park Brings Monster Mayhem to New Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark

The creepy chaos of creatures on the loose and Rocket scheming to save Groot adds to the high-energy action, only during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Sept. 15-Oct. 31, 2017.

In Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, Rocket finds his Guardians of the Galaxy pals trapped in the Fortress of The Collector, Taneleer Tivan, and guests assist him with a daring escape plan. The Monsters After Dark transformation picks up moments afterward, as Rocket discovers that in the hurry to free his friends, they have inadvertently left Groot behind. Now Rocket needs to distract all the monsters he has unleashed inside the Fortress, and he enlists the guests to help while he rescues his little friend.

“The Monsters After Dark story hinges on irreverence, on top of the irreverence that’s already in the attraction,” said Joe Rohde, creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s creepy, chaotic and very funny.”

The attraction transforms from Mission: BREAKOUT! to Monsters After Dark each evening. The Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound and all-new lighting on the exterior of the Fortress alerts guests that something inside has gone awry.

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort Adds More Spooky Fun than Ever Before with Expansion into Disney California Adventure Park

A spell is cast during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort as more spooky fun expands into Disney California Adventure Park this year, from Friday, Sept. 15, through Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017.

At Disney California Adventure Park

For the first time, Cars Land in Disney California Adventure will transform with a special Haul-O-Ween makeover as the citizens of Radiator Springs don Halloween costumes and decorate their respective homes for the season. Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz, Red and DJ will be all dressed up–as a super hero, a “van-pire,” a pirate, a clown and a punk rocker, ready to go “trunk-or-treating.” Attractions transform, too, with Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree turning spooky as the Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters getting a seasonal twist to become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Scary the Scarecar will stand guard over the entrance to Route 66, a preview to the Haul-O-Ween transformation awaiting guests in Cars Land. With Fillmore’s Jack-Oil Lanterns, the web spun over Flo’s by a Spider-Car, and the Cozy Cone dressed up in car-stumes, the townsfolk turn Radiator Springs into Radiator Screams.

Oogie Boogie appears for the first time at Disney California Adventure, too, taking over with his twisted tale of a forever Halloween, inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Oogie Boogie’s oversized silhouette beckons guests through the main entrance of the park and he brings to life a swarm of bats around Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge.

Disney California Adventure also will be featured for the first time as part of the pre-party mix-in for Mickey’s Halloween Party, a separate-ticket event that features special entertainment, Disney characters in their Halloween attire, and trick or treating at locations throughout Disneyland. This year, a ticket to Mickey’s Halloween Party has even greater value as guests will be able to visit Disney California Adventure as well as Disneyland during the three hours prior to the beginning of the party in Disneyland.

Tickets to the popular Mickey’s Halloween Party go on sale Monday, July 17 for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members and Disney Visa Card holders. Tickets go on sale Monday, July 24 for the general public. They may be purchased online and on mobile devices at http://Disneyland.com/party as well as at the Disneyland Resort main gate and by phone at 714-781-4400

Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort this summer will enjoy the magical mix of nostalgia, nighttime entertainment and new attractions that make the Resort a guest favorite year after year.

The Disneyland Railroad, an original Disneyland attraction and park icon, re-opens July 29, 2017. This fan-favorite attraction now travels a new scenic route along the north bank of the Rivers of America, where it traverses stunning new rockwork and waterfalls, providing guests with breathtaking views along both sides of the train.  Guests also will enjoy this new landscape from the water as they welcome the return of the popular watercraft – Mark Twain RiverboatSailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.

Kim Irvine, art director for the Rivers of America project, envisioned what it will be like for guests: “It’s hard to believe that right here, smack dab in the middle of bustling freeways and high-rises, you can enjoy a relaxing ride on an open-air train car and sail on a ship or canoe down a rolling river, surrounded by towering pine and oak trees with sightings of deer, elk, moose and beautiful waterfalls.”

Another classic, Fantasmic!,” re-opened July 17 on the Rivers of America, telling the story of Mickey Mouse and his vivid imagination.
