A New Sneak Peek of Disney’s Riviera Resort at D23: Destination D!

This weekend at D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse, our Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared a sneak peek at what’s to come for Disney’s Riviera Resort.

This proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property, projected to open Fall 2019, is inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along Europe’s Mediterranean coastline. As you can see from this newly released rendering, Disney Vacation Club Members and other Guests will have a great view of fireworks spectaculars and easy access to the Disney Skyliner, which will have a station at the resort.

In 1935, not long after Mickey Mouse was born, Walt took a break from the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Walt & Lillian and Roy & Edna Disney took an extended grand tour of Europe that would have an impact on Disney storytelling for decades to come. With its castles and colorful, fairy-tale villages, Walt fell in love with Europe – the art, the architecture, the food, and, of course, the stories.

We are so excited to share more and more of this inspiring resort story over the next several months. Stay tuned for details!

Disney’s Riviera Resort is not yet fully registered or available for sale.

The Pirates Of Caribbean Reboot Will Reportedly Follow Another Character From The Ride

The first Pirates of the Caribbean film took a lot of inspiration from the ride, mostly in the form of making skeleton pirates a major part of the story. Following the franchise’s success, many of the characters from the films became part of the ride itself. Now, it appears that Disney may be going back to the ride to look for new inspiration, as a new rumor indicates that the ride’s newest character, the female pirate Redd, may be replacing Captain Jack in the rumored reboot.

Disney FANCY NANCY dvd review

Ooh La La! If you or your children love all things glamorous and glittery, then you simply must pick up a copy of Disney FANCY NANCY.  Nancy is all about all things fancy. From  jazzing up a plain playhouse to hosting a lemonade tasting in the neighborhood, Nancy uses her imagination to bring everything to life. Now to be honest, growing up I was definitely more like Nancy’s sporty friends Wanda and Rhonda. My daughters, however, would have loved FANCY NANCY when they were little! As a teacher, I also like the mini vocabulary lessons that Nancy slips in during each episode. She says a “fancy” word in English or French then explains what that word means. A great way to watch FANCY NANCY would be to also read the FANCY NANCY picture books for younger readers and the chapter books for older readers. Making connections to their lives and talking about the lessons learned in each episode or book can spark so many conversations about being a good friend and making good choices.  With the push for SEL (Social Emotional Learning) in schools today, characters like FANCY NANCY and her friends can teach youngsters so much. If FANCY NANCY sounds like your cup of tea, put on your fanciest accessories and get to the store for your own fancy copy.

5 Awesome Disney Rides That Absolutely Need Their Own Movies

The Disney parks have always featured rides based on the beloved films from the storied animation studio and as time has gone on corporate synergy has seen rides based on movies become the default over original concepts. Yet in 2002, Disney chose to take things in the opposite direction, using one of its rides not based on a Disney film as inspiration for one. That film was The Country Bears.

Photo – Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction to Feature ‘Storytelling Coaster’ Ride Vehicle

Earlier this week, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared the first details on the innovative new ride system planned to bring the adventurous “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction to life at Epcot®.

According to Bob, building an adventure this big will require a ride system and ride vehicles unlike anything our Guests have experienced before. What your Clients will encounter can best be described as a one-of-a-kind storytelling coaster that connects the adventure of a storyline with the thrills of a coaster.

“On most coasters, the vehicles point straight ahead throughout the ride,” Bob explained. “But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you.

That means instead of whizzing by the action, you’ll be fully immersed in the story from the minute you launch.”

The attraction will be one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters when it opens in Future World at Epcot. Earlier this year, 960 trucks’ worth of concrete poured the foundation of this mammoth attraction, which will be housed inside a building so large that the volume of four Spaceship Earth attractions could fit inside it!

The attraction will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World® Resort in 2021. Stay tuned for future updates.
