Grand Legacy at the Park-Anaheim, CA Hotel Review

Recently I was able to start my summer vacation in the best way possible….a trip to the Disneyland Resort in California. After a long school year, it was an amazing way to relax and unwind. As Disney fanatics, we always want to stay as close to the parks as possible.  We found the ideal location in Anaheim with GRAND LEGACY AT THE PARK.

Located literally across the street from Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney shopping, GRAND LEGACY AT THE PARK is just minutes away from the fun and excitement of the parks.  At a leisurely pace, the walk may take 10 minutes.  We were so pumped to get there I believe we made it in 5!  Many area hotels boast “minutes from Disney.”  GRAND LEGACY AT THE PARK really is that close.

When we arrived from the airport and long day of traveling, we were warmly greeted by the friendly and professional staff.  Check in was very quick, and we were on our way to our room.  With multiple room choices, there is something for all traveling parties.  From 2 and 3 room suites to classic rooms, GRAND LEGACY AT THE PARK has the perfect room for you.

Disneyland Resort Serves Food and Beverage with a Pixar Twist and a Dash of Character at Newly Reimagined Pixar Pier

New culinary experiences, a bayside lounge and Pixar- themed treats are part of the storytelling at Pixar Pier, opening June 23, 2018, at Disney California Adventure Park. The newly reimagined land of Pixar Pier invites guests to step into the worlds of Pixar through exciting attractions, entertainment, creative merchandise and food and beverage offerings.

Pixar Pier features imaginative new neighborhoods and the thrilling Incredicoaster, inspired by the newest Disney•Pixar film, “Incredibles 2.” Guests will discover new culinary experiences throughout Pixar Pier, beginning with the beautiful new Lamplight Lounge and at kiosks all along Paradise Bay.

Lamplight Lounge is a stylish and fun gathering place that welcomes the entire family, with picturesque waterfront views of Paradise Bay both upstairs and downstairs. The California casual gastro-pub cuisine is playfully presented, complemented by unique signature cocktails and exciting new menu items. The Disneyland Resort culinary team has developed dishes such as the carne asada roll with roasted Fresno chili salsa; potato skins with brown butter-caper yogurt, smoked paprika aïoli and Manchego cheese; spinach salad with warm wild mushrooms, soft poached egg, charred onion vinaigrette and shiitake “bacon” served with blue cheese toast; chicken sandwich with spicy chili glaze, vinegar slaw and pineapple butter on a toasted Amish bun; and creamy PB&J roll served with a flower pot of veggies with hummus and fresh fruit.

The Lamplight Lounge décor celebrates the creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar films to life. Guests will discover the artistic details that Pixar “regulars” have left throughout the lounge: concept art, a quick sketch on a coaster, memorabilia and collectible toys of beloved Pixar characters.

Also near the entrance of Pixar Pier, is Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats with classic boardwalk soft-serve designed to recall the grand beachfront pavilions of yesteryear. Featuring the adorable Abominable Snowman from Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.,” the location serves cones and cups with tasty towering soft serve, available in chocolate, vanilla, and non-dairy lemon.

The Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats also serves up a few specialty treats, such as the Pixar Pier Parfait, a non-dairy lemon soft serve and blue raspberry frozen beverage, and the It’s Snow-Capped Lemon, a non-dairy lemon soft serve with a “snow-cap” of white chocolate.

Guests may also choose from a selection of fountain sodas, with the option to turn any soda into a float with any flavor of soft serve.

The first neighborhood at Pixar Pier is inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and is anchored by the thrilling Incredicoaster. Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums awaits at the exit of the new attraction, enticing guests with the smell of freshly baked cookies and inviting them into a plaza infused with fun and funky mid-century modern aesthetics.

Proceeding to the next neighborhood, guests will discover larger than life flavors themed to Disney•Pixar’s animated “Toy Story” films. At Poultry Palace, inspired by the Pixar short ““Toy Story Toon: Small Fry,” guests will enjoy delicious turkey legs and snap a photo with a fun-sized Emperor Zurg. At Señor Buzz Churros, the popular Disneyland Resort treat is presented with a sweet & crispy Spanish flair.

At Pixar Promenade, Angry Dogs offers hot dogs, chips and beverages in an open-air walk-up location on the waterfront. Anger, the outrageously fun character from Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out,” stands 35 inches high on a light stand and true to his nature, he is angry. The raging orange-red flames from his forehead appear to roast spicy and regular hot dogs for guests.

Opening later this year, Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff features Bing Bong, Riley’s imaginary childhood friend from “Inside Out.” Stepping inside, guests will find a fully sculpted Bing Bong sitting in his makeshift rocket wagon crying tears of candy. To his right is Jangles the Clown, offering guests a cooling frozen beverage; and across the shop, Rainbow Unicorn runs the most colorful and cheerful candy corner.

Pixar Pier opens during Pixar Fest, a limited-time celebration that offers creatively themed food and beverage throughout the Disneyland Resort, only through Sept. 3. Inspired by the Pixar stories and characters that guests have come to know and love, Pixar Fest celebrates the theme of friendship and beyond, an ever-present theme in Pixar films.

Hold on to Your Super Suits! Disneyland Resort Debuts the Thrilling Incredicoaster as Pixar Pier Opens June 23 at Disney California Adventure Park

The thrilling Incredicoaster opens June 23, 2018, at Disney California Adventure Park, bringing guests the first ride-through attraction in the world to feature characters from Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles.” Anchoring the newly reimagined land of Pixar Pier, the Incredicoaster takes guests on a super adventure with the Parr family to capture the elusive baby Jack-Jack. Exciting character figures, special effects, lighting, new music and distinctively colored vehicles make the thrills on this coaster even more incredible.

Guests will step right into the world of “The Incredibles” as they discover they’ve been invited to the inaugural launch of the new Incredicoaster. In gratitude for their heroic efforts and incredible deeds, the citizens of Municiberg are dedicating their beloved roller coaster to the Incredibles. Of course the family of supers are attending – Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Violet, Dash and Jack- Jack – along with Edna Mode (exclusive super suit designer to the Incredibles).

With Edna and Jack-Jack being too short to ride the Incredicoaster, they have to wait for the rest of the Incredibles inside the VIP inauguration lounge. Things go awry, however, when the unpredictable Jack-Jack vanishes from Edna’s not-so-watchful eye. As a polymorph with a wild variety of powers, Jack-Jack creates chaos along the track while his Incredible family sprints into action to save the day.

Incredicoaster Scenes:

Straight away, Dash sprints into action in an attempt to catch Jack-Jack, launching guests on the adventure with him. As the coaster zooms through the first tunnel, Jack-Jack shoots blue laser beams from his eyes and Dash uses his super speed to avoid being hit..

During the climb into the second tunnel, guests find that Elastigirl has jumped in to assist. Stretching herself flat against the tunnel walls, she reaches out with both arms in an attempt to grab her baby boy. Then the aroma of chocolate chip cookies wafts through the tunnel and, as the coaster plunges downward, guests see that Mr. Incredible has punched through the side of the tube holding a cookie to lure Jack-Jack out of another dimension.

In the third tunnel, guests find Jack-Jack joyfully aflame. Violet jumps in to save the Incredicoaster riders by shooting her purple force field up the tunnel, shielding guests from the raging fire. As the coaster zooms safely out of the tunnel, it sprints over a series of humps, and guests see a cluster of Jack-Jacks in mid-air, giggling and multiplying.

As riders circle through the final helix, they hear the voice of Edna Mode telling the family that Jack-Jack has returned to her, safe and sound. As the track straightens out, riders return to a chaotic and messy VIP lounge with one last surprise that guests are sure to enjoy.

  • Artist Teddy Newton worked with Walt Disney Imagineers to create a mural for the Incredicoaster load area, the artwork on a wall of Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums kiosk, and the arch at the entry of Incredibles Park, one of four neighborhoods in Pixar Pier. These designs feature a bold, abstract, hyper-colored style to contrast with the monotones of the mid-century modern architecture in the rest of the neighborhood.
