Netflix junkies (and probably Netflix itself) were rocked by the news that Disney is terminating its business with the streaming service. The Mouse House is taking off all of their movies and TV shows from Netflix and will be creating its own streaming platform which will be the exclusive home to its massive library of content.

Sneak Peak of Disney•Pixar’s ‘Coco’ Coming Soon to Disney Parks in November

In the coming weeks, guests will be able to preview scenes from Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” in sneak peeks planned for Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, the preview of “Coco” will be presented as part of the Walt Disney Presents attraction, where artwork and character sculptures from the production will also be on display. Guests at Disney California Adventure® Park will get to see this advance look at scenes from the film in 3D with special in-theater effects at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land. These special sneak peeks are set to begin Nov. 3, 2017.

And, as we shared yesterday, beginning this weekend at Disney California Adventure Park, guests can discover Plaza de la Familia, an all-new festivity at Paradise Gardens that celebrates the Disney•Pixar film “Coco” and the everlasting bonds of family. Plaza de la Familia features daily performances of “A Musical Celebration of ‘Coco,’” “The World of ‘Coco’” exhibit, authentic Mariachi music on the bandstand, a Tree of Life interactive photo location, face painting and delicious foods, all inspired by the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos.

In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician, despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Guests can experience Plaza de la Familia Sept. 15 – Nov. 2, 2017 and catch our sneak peek of “Coco” starting Nov. 3, 2017 at Disney California Adventure Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. MAKE PLANS TO EXPERIENCE PLAZA DE LA FAMILIA, A CELEBRATION OF DISNEY•PIXAR’S ‘COCO’

Guests are invited to bring their family and friends to discover Plaza de la Familia, an all-new festivity beginning Sept. 15, 2017 at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure® Park that celebrates Disney·Pixar’s “Coco” and the everlasting bonds of family.

A highlight of Plaza de la Familia is “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” featuring an entertaining group of storytellers and original songs from “Coco” in a performance of dance and music. Our singing host, Mateo, is joined by an ensemble of Folklórico dancers and the GRAMMY®-winning Mariachi Divas, bringing to vibrant life three of the film’s enchanting songs.

In addition to daily performances of “A Musical Celebration of Coco” at Plaza de la Familia, guests will also enjoy authentic Mariachi music on the Paradise Gardens Bandstand, The World of Coco exhibit, a Tree of Life interactive photo location and a delicious all-new menu of Mexican foods. Plaza de la Familia is inspired by the beautiful tradition of Día de los Muertos that celebrates loved ones who have passed and honors the familial bonds that last forever.

Disney Cruise Line Tropical Weather Update

Disney Dream Sailings – Sept. 15, 2017 and beyond

The Disney Dream is expected to sail as scheduled on Friday, September 15. Port Canaveral is currently closed and is expected to re-open prior to Friday’s sailing. Should any changes be needed, Disney will notify Travel Agents/Guests.

Disney Fantasy – Sept. 16, 2017 Sailing

The Disney Fantasy is expected to sail on its Western Caribbean itinerary as scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017.  Should any changes be needed, Disney will notify Travel Agents/Guests.

Disney Fantasy – Eastern Caribbean Sailings

We continue to assess Hurricane Irma’s impact on the ports of call Disney visits in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Updates regarding any necessary itinerary changes will be shared later this week.

Walt Disney World Resort Update – Information on Hurricane Irma

Walt Disney World® Resort Theme Parks and Disney Springs® will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 with normal, advertised operating hours. Special events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, will also take place. Water Parks will remain closed tomorrow and will reopen later this week.

Magic Kingdom® Park – 9:00am-7:00pm, with an added Extra Magic Hour beginning at 8:00am for Resort Guests who weathered the storm with us
Epcot® – 9:00am-9:00pm, with previously scheduled Extra Magic Hours from 9:00-11:00 pm for Resort Guests
Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park – 9:00am-9:00pm
Disney’s Hollywood Studios® – 9:00am-9:00pm
Disney Springs® – 10:00am-12:00am
Disney’s Blizzard Beach® Water Park – Closed
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon® Water Park – Closed

All Disney Resorts will begin normal operation Sept. 12, 2017 with the exception of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground will remain closed at this time while assessments to the property are completed. To allow Disney’s Fort Wilderness to prepare the property after Hurricane Irma, all shows at The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ will be cancelled Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. Any existing reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas are scheduled to re-open on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. Disney’s Vero Beach and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resorts will remain closed at this time.

Guest Transportation will be available beginning Tuesday morning, Sept.12, 2017.

On Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, the only select restaurants at Disney Resort hotels are open for Disney Resort Guests. We are not taking reservations for Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, any existing reservations have been cancelled, and any prepaid dining and premium experiences will be automatically cancelled and/or refunded. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Guests staying at our Disney Resorts should refer to information within their resort for available dining options today.

Disney Reservation Center will resume operations Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017.

Holidays At Disney California Adventure Park

  • The nighttime spectacular, “World of Color – Season of Light” celebrates the warm and heartfelt spirit of the holidays as it illuminates Paradise Bay with a sparkling winter fantasy combining classic holiday songs with memorable moments from treasured Disney animated films.
  • Festival of Holidays” brings the spirit of the season to life through delicious food and special entertainment, including the popular “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” A new twist to this celebration presents the popular Festive Foods Marketplace with a mix of holiday comfort dishes that bridge many diverse cultures and family traditions.
  • Santa Claus, with a sleigh full of mischievous elves, appears at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, where guests of all ages will join the festive fun with a series of holiday-themed activities along the trail.
  • For the residents of Cars Land, holiday decorating begins with the whimsical “Snowcar” that greets guests on the road to Radiator Springs. Each address along Route 66 – Flo’s V-8 Café, Fillmore’s, Cozy Cone Motel, Luigi’s Casa della Tires and more – also gets a holiday makeover that reflects the personality of its “Cars” character resident.
  • “a bug’s land” transforms for the holidays, too, as Flik and his bug friends deck their land with oversized lights and ornaments.

STAR WARS: GALACTIC NIGHTS RETURNS TO DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS DECEMBER 16

The special event, Star Wars: Galactic Nights, which sold out last April, will return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios® on Dec. 16, 2017.

Held after park hours from 7 p.m.-midnight, the event will be filled with out-of-this-world entertainment that celebrates the entire Star Wars saga.

Among many thrills in store, guests can expect to enjoy Star Wars entertainment, special photo opportunities, event-exclusive merchandise and F&B, character greetings, a look at the ongoing Star Wars expansion coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and much more.

Here’s a look at other event offerings:

  • Star Wars Entertainment – Both Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks and the Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away stage show will be enhanced with special saga elements.
  • Sneak Peeks at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – The Epic Theater will play host to a special one-night-only panel discussion about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the 14-acre Star Wars expansion that’s set to open in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
  • Special Photo Ops – Throughout the park, guests can step into immersive and iconic scenes from their favorite Star Wars films in a series of incredibly detailed photo locations, including new backdrops inspired by Star Wars Rebelsand other scenes from the saga.
  • Character Encounters – Guests can be on the lookout for Star Wars characters like Ewoks, AWR Troopers and roaming droids; Jedi Knights teaching younglings in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple; rocketing to the stars aboard Star Tours – The Adventures Continue; and more.
  • Exclusive F&B and Merchandise – Even more specialty Star Wars-themed food and beverage and merchandise will be available.
  • Enjoy park attractions – Select attractions will be open to all Guests. At embarkation points to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, guests may come face-to-face with Stormtroopers on the lookout for a Rebel spy.

Star Wars: Galactic Nights access and activities will be exclusive to event ticket holders. Last spring’s event sold out, so booking early is strongly suggested.
