Update on the Star Wars Immersive Resort Planned for Walt Disney World Resort

Last summer, plans for a Star Wars-inspired destination at Walt Disney World® Resort were unveiled at the D23 Expo.

Today we are happy to share the location of this exciting addition, which is currently under development on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, just east of World Drive. This location will allow the experience to be seamlessly connected to the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, enabling you to fully immerse themselves in the story of Star Wars.

This experience stands out among all of our destinations around the globe. Families visiting this destination will board a starship that comes alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during their voyage through the galaxy – and every cabin window has views of space! Guests visiting the multi-day adventure will also be welcome to participate as a resident of the Galaxy by dressing in Star Wars-inspired attire.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Black Spire Outpost Revealed to be the Name of the Village in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

This weekend at Star Wars: Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, Disney shared some exciting news about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Walt Disney Imagineering Story Editor, Margaret Kerrison, shared for the first time that the name of the village is called Black Spire Outpost. She also shared some of the history behind the name and how this village is closely associated with the geological formations that surround it.

Black Spire Outpost is the name of the village inside of the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The village is closely associated with the geological formations that surround it. As the largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland Resort in summer 2019 and at Walt Disney World Resort in late fall 2019. (Disney)

The largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Off the beaten path, this outpost has become a haven for the galaxy’s most colorful — and notorious — characters. Widely known for the petrified remains of its once towering ancient trees, the spires now stand guard across the river valleys and plains and have long captured the imagination of travelers to this planet. To the first settlers, these petrified spires became more than just landmarks; they became the heart of the outpost itself.

We’ll be sharing more details with you in the coming months and cannot wait for you to live your own Star Wars story once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland® Resort in summer 2019 or at Walt Disney World® Resort in late fall 2019.

Donald’s Dino-Bash!, a prehistoric party in which Donald Duck and pals take over DinoLand, U.S.A., also begins May 25, 2018. To celebrate Donald’s new-found discovery that ducks are actually descendants of dinosaurs, your Clients can enjoy a flock of new character greetings with feathered friends like Donald, Daisy, Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack, and others during a rip-roaring party. The daily celebration will culminate with a nightly Dino-Riffic dance party with Chip and Dale, along with a DJ spinning wild tunes.

And more summer fun will roll out in June.

Beginning June 9, 2018, The Guardians of the Galaxy will take the stage at Epcot® – Star-Lord and Gamora from “Guardians of the Galaxy” will join an alien band, taking you on a journey through the cosmos. The party will feature hits from Awesome Mixtapes 1 and 2 – fun and favorite tunes from the two movies’ soundtracks – building the anticipation for a new Epcot Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon® Water Park will kick up the summer fun a notch with the debut of Disney H2O Glow Nights. On select summer nights starting June 21, 2018,  special lighting effects will transform the water park like never before as Buzz, Woody and Jessie throw a Beach Party inspired by their friend, “Partysaurus” Rex. And last, but not least, Toy Story Land will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® on June 30, 2018. There, you can experience two new attractions: the family coaster Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. Toy Story Land also will feature an existing Guest-favorite attraction, Toy Story Mania!, which will expand to add a third track into the rotation. The land’s Woody’s Lunch Box will be a new quick-service restaurant that will offer up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats to Toy Story Land Guests.
