Hot Topic’s new modern Disney Princess collection is here, and every item is a dream come true

You might be able to take the girl out of Disney, but it’s much harder to take Disney out of the girl. And thankfully, with Hot Topic’s latest collaboration with lifestyle brand Her Universe, you won’t have to. Just because you might work in an office (and maybe only visit a Disney Theme Park once a year), doesn’t mean you still can’t try to live every day like the princess you know you are — and do so in outfits that are perfect to go from day to night and everywhere in between.

Disneyland Resort to Celebrate 63 Years of Magical Fun on July 17 with a Tribute to Opening Day at Disneyland

When Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955, it had 18 attractions, no Disney hotels and little but orange groves surrounding it. Now, as Disneyland Resort plans to mark its 63rd anniversary, the original theme park has expanded to become a world-class family resort destination. With more than six decades of inspiration and innovation, the resort includes two renowned Disney theme parks, nearly 100 exciting attractions, three hotels and the shopping, dining and entertainment district known as Downtown Disney.

Disneyland will commemorate its role as the original Disney theme park Tuesday, July 17, with festivities that include the “Happiest March on Earth” down Main Street, U.S.A.

Final Weeks of Pixar Fest: Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort today and through Sept. 3 will enjoy the final weeks of Pixar Fest, a celebration of friendship and beyond. Pixar Fest features “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular”fireworks show, along with Pixar Pals Dance Party and the Pixar Shorts Film Festival (resuming July 20). Only through Sept. 3, guests also may enjoy Pixar Fest atmosphere entertainment, playful décor, themed eats and treats, and limited-time merchandise at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks.

Debut of Pixar PierThis summer, the newly reimagined Pixar Pier opened at Disney California Adventure Park with the debut of Lamplight Loungeand the Incredicoaster– themed to Disney•Pixar’s blockbusterfilm “Incredibles 2.” As guests stroll through Pixar Pier, they explore whimsical neighborhoods: Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk, Pixar Promenade and, coming in 2019, Inside Out Headquarters.

A Place Where Dreams Come TrueThe popularity of Disneyland through the past 63 years celebrates Walt Disney’s dream of a place where family members of all ages can have fun together in a safe, clean atmosphere that emphasizes imagination and extraordinary guest service. Since 1955, dignitaries, heads of state, celebrities and more than 800 million guests have passed through its gates.

As part of the tribute to opening day, July 17, 1955, a recording of Walt Disney’s speech will be played: “To all who come to this happy place–welcome!  Disneyland is your land. Here, age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

With that goal, Disneyland transformed the amusement industry. It delivered an entirely new concept in family entertainment: a “theme park” where rides, shows and characters become part of a total storytelling environment.  Creativity, technology and innovation continue to bring stories to life, while fulfilling Walt’s promise that “Disneyland will never be completed … as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

The success of Disneyland Resort also results in $5.7 billion in total economic activity to the Southern California economy annually. The resort’s workforce of more than 30,000 cast members makes it the largest single-site employer in Orange County. The Disney Parks entertainment experience has expanded worldwide and is enjoyed by guests at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, Disneyland Paris in France, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort in mainland China.

Seven Insider Facts About Pixar that Guests Will Discover at the New Lamplight Lounge

Lamplight Lounge, a new restaurant opening June 23 at Pixar Pier, offers table-service dining, gastro-pub cuisine, panoramic views of Paradise Bay – plus “insider” stories all along the walls. The décor of Lamplight Lounge serves as a tribute to the storytellers who create the beloved Pixar feature films and shorts.

The stylish eatery at Disney California Adventure Park celebrates the creativity, inspiration and personalities of the artists and storytellers who bring Pixar stories to life. Guests will discover many unique artistic details that Pixar “regulars” have left throughout the lounge. From sketches on coasters to concept art and memorabilia on the walls, the décor at Lamplight Lounge reveals seven insider facts about Pixar.

  1. Pixar celebrates the early sketch artwork from beloved Pixar films, and fans will find some of that work in the décor throughout Lamplight Lounge. Guests who look “Up” will see a beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling at Lamplight Lounge. The chandelier features sketch artwork and film quotes from Pixar animated films including “Coco,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles” and more. The design features blank pages at the top, to represent one of the most difficult stages in the design process – starting with a blank slate – along with character artwork from artists in several Pixar departments.
  2. When a film is in production at Pixar, departments create and wear special t-shirts to celebrate the film. Guests will get a close-up look at a little-known Pixar tradition on the t-shirt wall at Lamplight Lounge. The t-shirts on display are examples of a celebrated accomplishment, humorous reference, inside joke, or even a department’s experience or influence on the film. The many t-shirts also show how many different departments come together to create a Pixar film.
  3. A conference room table at Pixar Animation Studios features die-cast toys created for the Disney•Pixar film “Cars,” an example of the artists’ playfulness. Many décor items at Lamplight Lounge are inspired by the creative interior design of Pixar Animation Studios’ campus. One is a dining table inside the restaurant that closely replicates the “Cars” table located in one of Pixar’s conference rooms.
  4. At Pixar, every toy has a story. Above the “Cars” dining table, guests will notice shelves of toys that have been pulled from the Pixar archives. Below the toy shelves are examples of design comments and notes exchanged between Pixar and its toy manufacturing partners to ensure that the final product is as accurate as possible. Each toy goes through many rounds of notes in various forms, including drawings, creative reviews and even video conferences.
  5. Like “Easter eggs” hidden in Pixar films, many nods to Pixar films and the studios’ culture can be found at Lamplight Lounge, including beverage names. When perusing the menu, guests will notice references to Pixar Animation Studios, its films and the filmmaking process. For example, guests may order the Park Ave. (alcoholic beverage), referencing the street name of the Pixar Animation Studios address in Emeryville, California, or the Goofball Island (non-alcoholic), named after one of Riley’s personality islands from the film, “Inside Out.”
  6. Each Pixar film requires a large amount of artwork, promotional materials and artifacts that are essential to the film’s research and development. Guests will also discover some film-related memorabilia along the Lamplight Lounge art wall, such as concept art, reference materials, props and physical renditions of artifacts from Pixar films, including “WALL•E,” “Toy Story” and “Ratatouille.” For instance, guests may see a pair of shoes attached to a flat board at the “Toy Story” section. During the making of “Toy Story,” one of the screenwriters attached a pair of his shoes to a board to help him figure out how the green army men, whose feet are attached to a base, would move.
  7. The talented teams at Pixar often share handwritten notes during the creation of a film, and some of those quotes are showcased at Lamplight Lounge. These notes appear in Lamplight Lounge as part of the tribute to Pixar storytellers. For example, in the sketch art chandelier and in the hallway leading to the restrooms, guests will find some iconic Pixar film quotes that were handwritten by Pixar employees. One that movie fans will find familiar: “WHERE. IS. MY. SUPER. SUIT?!” from “The Incredibles.”
