A tipping point? by Scott Shindeldecker

I have a few things to admit to myself here.  It’s been bopping around in my head for a little while now, and I’m finally taking the time to sit down and write.

1)      The post that I’ve had in mind to write for probably 2 months now is probably not happening any time soon.

2)      It likely wasn’t going to work out the way I wanted it to anyway.

3)      I’m leaving in a week for what I believe is my only trip to Florida, for sure as an adult (Spring Break doesn’t count right?), that doesn’t involve a trip to Disney Parks™.

The three things have a lot more in common than you might think on first glance.  The blog post that I have been meaning to write is one that was intended to answer a question that was in my head, especially as I plan this trip to Florida, and one that I feel has been really prevalent in some of the Disney discussions of late.

A SNEEZY FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL BY SAM ALLEN

With the busy summer season just around the corner, it’s time to say a fond farewell to spring at Walt Disney World. For some, that will mean paying a visit to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival this weekend to experience this springtime tradition before it comes to a close for another year on May 30th. While many Epcot fan will no doubt miss the festival’s beautiful blooms, I can imagine one dwarf who might be relieved to have a few less pollen-producing flowers around for a change.

A tangent on storytelling and Epcot Center by Scott Shindeldecker

A comment on my last blog post regarding music and radio got me going off on a tangent today.  The comment made mention of Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, which put my brain off and running on a semi-related path.  And I haven’t even had the chance to write up my post on the importance of music in the original Epcot Center, have I?  I can’t remember.  Anyway.

REQUIEM FOR AN EARFFEL TOWER BY SAM ALLEN

This week marks the 27th anniversary of the opening of the Disney-MGM Studios, now known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The occasion comes as the park is beginning a major transformation that will bring new lands, new attractions, and even another new name. To make room for all of this, many long-time staples of the park are being closed or removed, perhaps the most symbolic of which is the Earffel Tower.

BAMBI’S LITTLE APRIL FLOWERS BY SAM ALLEN

Spring is well underway, and the gardens of Walt Disney World are in full bloom. This is especially true at Epcot, which is currently holding its International Flower and Garden Festival. As part of the event, a wide variety of flowers can be found on display all across the park. However, the Canada Pavilion also contains a very unique type of flower: Flower the skunk.

READY FOR ADVENTURE WITH MORTY AND FERDIE BY SAM ALLEN

This week, Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates its celebrates both Earth Day and the park’s 18th anniversary. Among those ready to take part in the adventures that lie around every corner of Walt Disney World’s youngest theme park are Mickey Mouse’s nephews, Morty and Ferdie.

ARLO MAKES HIS MARK BY SAM ALLEN

In Disney•Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur,” Arlo the Apatosaurus is taught follow the river in order to find his way back home. However, it would appear that he might have followed the wrong body of water and ended up finding his way to Disney Springs instead.

THE LEGACY OF DREAM ALONG WITH MICKEY BY SAM ALLEN

After nearly a decade-long run on the Magic Kingdom’s “Castle Forecourt Stage,” the final performance of “Dream Along with Mickey” was presented on April 2nd, 2016.

LIGHTNING, MOTORS, ACTION! BY SAM ALLEN

The long-awaited transformation of Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be taking a major step forward on April 2nd with the closing of the majority of Streets of America Backlot. Among the venues confirmed to be removed is ‘Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show,” which gives guests a behind-the-scenes look at how big screen car chases and other automotive-based stunts are created.

PLUTO’S EASTER EGG-STRAVAGANZA BY SAM ALLEN

As spring begins, many children are looking forward to searching for Easter Eggs. Similarly, many Walt Disney World fans enjoy looking for Hidden Mickeys and other hidden Disney characters, turning what was once an inside joke into a popular park pastime.
