Magical New Experiences Will Debut This Summer at Magic Kingdom
Classic Disney characters will join contemporary animated film stars this June in a new extravaganza on the grand Cinderella Castle stage, and Magic Kingdom guests can experience a new dining adventure.
- For the first time, Tiana of “Princess and the Frog,” and Rapunzel of “Tangled,” co-star with Anna and Elsa of “Frozen,” and a host of favorite Disney characters in the new Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire show. Performed on the grandest stage in the kingdom, the star-studded tale of friendship presents Mickey Mouse and his troupe of Merry Makers – Minnie Mouse, Donald, Daisy and Goofy – who invite 10 new friends from different animated worlds to join the celebration. This “timeless fairytale” of a show combines grand dance, fireworks and stunts with memorable music, an original song and special effects.
- Disney Parks will welcome Elena of Avalor, Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures. Elena of Avalor will appear at Walt Disney World Resort later this summer and at Disneyland Resort in the fall, following her television debut in a new animated series this summer on Disney Channel.
- Next door to the legendary Jungle Cruise, guests can enjoy the bold flavors of “World Famous Jungle Cuisine” served by the wisecracking crew of the new Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen. It’s the first Disney full-service restaurant themed after a specific park attraction.

Golden Oak at Walt Disney World Resort Announces New Kingswell Neighborhood
This week, Golden Oak at Walt Disney World Resort announced plans for its newest neighborhood, Kingswell. The new neighborhood will feature the last estate-sized homesites available for purchase within the community. Sale of select homesites will begin today, with prices of finished custom homes to start at $3 million.
Custom single-family homes in the new Kingswell neighborhood will range from approximately 5,000 to 7,000 square feet and feature design and architectural inspiration from European and Caribbean influences. The initial homesites released boast approximate half-acre lots, some with scenic water views. The Kingswell neighborhood is planned to include 53 total homesites.
“Golden Oak offers the best in luxury experiences with a unique opportunity to live at Walt Disney World Resort,” said Page Pierce, vice president of Disney Resort Real Estate Development. “We’re excited to welcome residents to our new Kingswell neighborhood where families can build special, lifelong memories for generations to come.”
The neighborhood is planned to include a community park with natural landscapes, which will be available to all Golden Oak residents. Near the park, a new bronze sculpture of Pinocchio will be featured adding to the unique Golden Oak sculpture series that includes sophisticated interpretations of classic Disney animation located throughout the community.
Rooted in tradition, Kingswell is named after the street where Walt and Roy Disney set up their first Hollywood studio – the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio – in California where they produced the classic cartoon series, Alice Comedies
Like all Golden Oak homeowners, Kingswell residents become members of the Golden Oak Club, which provides access to amenities including Summerhouse, the private clubhouse for residents featuring the full-service Markham’s dining room and Tyler’s Lounge, state-of-the-art fitness facility and pool. Homeowners can also take advantage of the Resident Services team, which offers concierge-style services and events throughout the year, in addition to assisting with personal requests such as coordinating park transportation, spa and golf reservations, special event tickets and more.
Kingswell is Golden Oak’s sixth neighborhood to be released since the exclusive luxury residential community broke ground in 2010. Golden Oak welcomed its first residents in 2012 and recently announced the addition of Four Seasons Private Residences Orlando in 2015.

Soarin’ Around the World Takes Flight This Summer at Disney California Adventure Park
Imagine a wind-through-hair flight above The Great Wall of China, a lift-your-feet-or-they’ll-touch journey over the Great Pyramids of Egypt or a seat-of-your-pants dash through the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
These are just a few of the more than a dozen breathtaking – and innovative – ways guests will be able to experience the wonders of the world on the groundbreaking Soarin’ Around the World, which premieres June 17 at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Southern California, just after the attraction’s world debut at the Shanghai Disney Resort.
Soarin’ Around the World will be located in the Grizzly Peak Airfield area of Disney California Adventure, utilizing the very hanger where Disney’s original “Soarin’” attraction first flew.
As the next generation of popular Soarin’ attractions, Soarin’ Around the World is an exhilarating aerial adventure that immerses guests in a multi-sensory experience, complete with stunning sights, spectacular sounds and even subtle scents.
Guests won’t just see these gorgeous landscapes with their eyes. They’ll use all their senses to feel, smell and hear the world through this thrilling experience that could only be created by Disney.
Employing high-definition, laser-projected footage and innovative motion-based ride technology, all developed by Walt Disney Imagineering, Soarin’ Around the World lifts 87 guests at a time 40 feet aloft into an 80-foot projection screen dome. The effect is that guests’ entire field of vision is filled with panoramic beauty, giving them the sensation that they are actually flying over the globe’s grand landmarks, natural and manmade.
In Shanghai the attraction goes by a different name, Soaring Over the Horizon, to better fit its location in Adventure Isle at Shanghai Disneyland because of its spirit of exploration and discovery.
Soarin’ Around the World is also enhanced by its majestic musical score, composed by Bruce Broughton, based on the original Soarin’ score by the late film and television composer Jerry Goldsmith, and performed by the London Studio Orchestra.
