Video – Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World Resort

Star Wars Weekends is an annual event that celebrates the Star Wars film saga and the hit animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It’s been presented for more than a decade at Walt Disney World and seems to grow every year. In fact, Star Wars Weekends is the largest gathering of Star Wars characters found anywhere.

During the event, the park hosts special shows and parades, Q&A sessions with Star Wars celebrities, and multiple photo and autograph opportunities. You also can get your hands on some limited-edition merchandise and one-of-a-kind memorabilia that has been created just for the event.

The dates for the 2014 Star Wars Weekends are:
Weekend I: May 16 — 18, 2014
Weekend II: May 23 — 25, 2014
Weekend III: May 30 — June 1, 2014
Weekend IV: June 6 — 8, 2014
Weekend V: June 13 — 15, 2014

Star Wars Weekends is included with regular admission to the theme park.

Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Filming Gets Under Way in Abu Dhabi

The first “Star Wars” movie to be made under Walt Disney Co. (DIS) has begun shooting in Abu Dhabi, according to Alan Horn, chairman of the company’s film division, who said the casting will be announced soon.

Video – Star Wars Visual Effects, from AT-ATs to Tauntauns

Learn the secrets behind the Star Wars saga’s many innovative visual effects, from the Death Star’s detailed interiors to the towering AT-AT walkers.

This vintage featurette opens by detailing the chess game played between Chewbacca and C-3PO in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The creatures in the game were animated via stop-motion then superimposed onto the chess board, with a visual trick giving them a holographic appearance. The scene took place on the Millennium Falcon, itself a model, photographed by a computer-controlled camera. It was shot stationary on a blue screen, which allowed for different backgrounds and other moving objects to be added later. The same technique was used to create the film’s dogfights and Death Star trench run.

Star Wars Rebels: WonderCon 2014 Exclusive Clip

This special Star Wars Rebels preview clip, which premiered at WonderCon 2014, features an introduction from voice actress Vanessa Marshall and an exciting sequence from the upcoming animated series.

Hera, captain of the Ghost, pilots her starship during a battle with two TIE fighters. Chopper delivers a message from Kanan, currently engaging the TIEs in the top turret. The Jedi is apparently displeased with Hera’s maneuvering. In response, she takes matters into her own hands…

Disney Chief Reveals ‘Star Wars: VII’ Casting Almost Complete, Says Film Is Already Shooting

The new Star Wars — episode 7 in the nine-picture franchise — has already begun filming and most of the cast is now in place for the movie, Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn revealed April 2.

Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast” at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant and “Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood & Vine” will take place on weekends from May 4 – June 15.
