Disney’s latest hero, ‘Captain America,’ sets box office record

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” the sequel to Marvel’s 2011 film about the red, white and blue superhero, smashed its way to $96.2 million in weekend ticket sales, setting a new record for an April release.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Art of Level 7

Today, Marvel Television unveiled Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Art of Level 7, a landmark new initiative bringing top artists from around the world together to celebrate the explosive final six episodes of the series’ inaugural season (airing Tuesdays, 8|7c on the ABC Television Network). Featuring a first look at key events in each episode, these exciting Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. art pieces offer fans clues and enticements to the future of everyone’s favorite Agents with new images being unveiled every Thursday for six consecutive weeks.

Released today, the first in the series features the dynamic work of acclaimed artist Mike Del Mundo (Elektra. X-Men Legacy) and spotlights the hotly-anticipated seventeenth episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (“Turn, Turn, Turn”)premiering Tuesday, April 8th at 8|7c on the ABC Network. Coulson’s team comes face to face with the Clairvoyant and revelations that will change the series forever.

“I’ve always wanted to create art for TV and the fact that it’s TV for Marvel, made it even more intriguing,” explained Mike Del Mundo when asked about working on The Art of Level 7. “It’s definitely a show with great action, suspense and a cast of different and interesting characters so there were a lot of elements to play with when coming up with ideas. I’ve been a fan of Coulson since I saw him in Marvel’s The Avengers, so being a part of his return was great, especially with an episode like this where all of the craziness happens in his world!”

IMAX® And Disney Expand Relationship With Multi-Picture Deal

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and The Walt Disney Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), today announced an agreement to release several of Disney’s upcoming films in IMAX® theatres under an extension of the companies’ long-running relationship.

Under the agreement, IMAX will be part of Disney’s release strategy for its most highly-anticipated live-action tentpole films, including Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 2014), Maleficent (May 2014), Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (August 2014), and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 2015), Tomorrowland (May 2015) and  Star Wars: Episode VII (December 2015).

“Disney has enjoyed a terrific ongoing collaboration with IMAX, and we are thrilled to extend this relationship with a collection of exciting, highly anticipated cinematic events that are perfect for the immersive IMAX format,” said Alan Bergman, President, The Walt Disney Studios.
