Songwriters, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez were named in TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. The list is comprised of titans, pioneers, artists, leaders, and icons who are changing the world. Their hit song, “Let It Go,” won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Children, you have no idea what your parents endure to get you a little “Frozen.”
Merchandise is scarce. Birthday parties with official tie-in decorations are nearly impossible to pull off. And the theme-park lines to meet Anna and Elsa, the sibling royals at the heart of the world’s highest-ever-grossing animated movie, are long.
In a recent interview with NPR’s Fresh Air , the songwriting duo opened up about part of the creative process for the Academy Award Winning film’s musical component and revealed that one word in particular was not allowed to be included in Frozen‘s lyrics:
On its 155th day of domestic release, Walt Disney’s animated smash Frozen has crossed $400 million at the domestic box office. Coming off a $67 million Fri-Sun debut over its $93m Thanksgiving weekend opening, the film has earned a mammoth 5.9x its opening weekend number.
First there was Frozen, the movie. Then kids started dressing up as its main characters, Elsa and Anna, Disney’s Frozen sold millions of DVDs and its song, Let it Go, won an Oscar.
Yet you’d be hard-pressed to find any Frozen-themed merchandise in toy stores.
Storyboard artists Jeff Ranjo (Frozen, Surf’s Up, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), Fawn Veerasunthorn (Frozen, Hop, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera), Nicole Mitchell (Frozen, Wreck-it Ralph, Winnie the Pooh) and Normand Lemay (Frozen, Rio) were on hand at WonderCon to give a behind-the-scenes look at the art of storyboarding and the process of crafting story for an animated film.
The double Platinum-certified Frozen soundtrack maintains the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Top 200 album chart spending eleven non-consecutive weeks in the top position according to Nielsen SoundScan. Selling 259,000 copies in the week ending April 20, the soundtrack has sold over 2.3 million copies and over 6 million combined digital tracks in its 21st week of release. Frozen remains the top-selling album of 2014 and is expected to cross 3M in shipments imminently. The Frozen soundtrack has surpassed The Lion King’s 10-week reign at No. 1 in 1994 and has spent the most weeks at No. 1 for an animated film soundtrack in the 58-year history of the chart.
The triple Platinum, Oscar-winning song “Let It Go” performed by Idina Menzel, is in the Top 15 (#12*) at Mainstream AC radio and is #22* and climbing at Adult Top 40 radio. The film video version of Idina’s “Let It Go” has been viewed more than 190M times on YouTube and Demi Lovato’s “Let It Go” music video has surpassed 133M views.
The album has sold over 4.5 million worldwide and has been certified 15x Platinum in Korea; Platinum in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Argentina and Taiwan; and Gold in Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore.
The soundtrack features eight original songs from Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and songwriter Robert Lopez plus score by the composer of last year’s Oscar-winning short “Paperman,” Christophe Beck.

Starting April 20, Anna and Elsa from Disney’s Academy Award-winning film “Frozen” moved from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. They joined some of their fellow Disney Royals at Princess Fairytale Hall, where Disney FastPass+ service will be available for this character greeting experience. Elsa and Anna will appear together each day until the early evening. After nightfall, other visiting Disney Princesses will be available to greet guests. Cinderella and Rapunzel will also continue making appearances at Princess Fairytale Hall.
