DISNEY JUNIOR SADDLES UP FOR A SECOND SEASON OF “SHERIFF CALLIE’S WILD WEST”

Disney Junior has ordered a second season of “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West,” starring Mandy Moore (Disney’s “Tangled”) as the voice of Sheriff Callie. The action-packed Western series follows Callie, a Calico cat sheriff who keeps the peace in her frontier town of Nice and Friendly Corners by ensuring that everyone abides by the rules of good morals, manners and social ethics. The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

NEW PRIMETIME SPECIAL “SOFIA THE FIRST: THE CURSE OF PRINCESS IVY,” PREMIERING SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 ON DISNEY CHANNEL

Amber discovers Sofia’s amulet is magical and takes it without permission, inadvertently summoning an evil princess, Ivy, who’s set on taking over Enchancia, in “Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy,” a primetime special of Disney Junior’s Emmy-winning series, premiering SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The high-stakes adventure features a special appearance by Rapunzel, voiced by Mandy Moore, who reprises her role from Disney’s “Tangled.” Film, television and Broadway actress Anna Camp guest stars as the nefarious Princess Ivy, along with her “Pitch Perfect” co-star John Michael Higgins as the self-appointed leader of an all-dragon a capella group, and Oliver Platt (“The West Wing”) as Enchancia’s oldest-living dragon, Everburn.

A full-length preview of “Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy” and a new game based on the special will debut on WATCHDisneyJunior.com and the WATCH Disney Junior app for smartphones and tablets beginning Monday, November 10.

Leading up to the special’s television premiere week of Monday, November 17 – Sunday, November 23 (8:30 a.m., ET/PT), Disney Channel will air “Sofia the First” episodes featuring Disney Princesses Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Jasmine and Mulan. Also debuting are new “I Am A Princess” interstitials featuring stories from Disney movies, including “Frozen” and “The Little Mermaid,” told through the eyes of children.

Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke Guest Stars as Goofy’s Grandpappy in a Music-Filled “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” Premiering Friday, October 10 on Disney Channel

Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke guest stars as Goofy’s pirate grandpappy, Captain Goof-Beard, in a special music-filled episode of Disney Junior’s Emmy Award-nominated animated series “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” premiering FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10 (9:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The episode, titled “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Pirate Adventure,” features six new original songs performed by Van Dyke’s character alongside Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto.

DISNEY JUNIOR’S “PIRATE AND PRINCESS: POWER OF DOING GOOD” A SEVEN-CITY TOURING EVENT IN COLLABORATION WITH ASPCA & OTHERS

“Pirate and Princess: Power of Doing Good,” a pro-social touring event to introduce kids age 2-7 to the value of doing good, including caring for nature and animals and helping others, will begin THURSDAY, JULY 17 in Philadelphia before carrying on to Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Designed for kids and families, the tour is sponsored by Disney Junior, ASPCA, Youth Service America (YSA), National Wildlife Federation and First Book.

Disney Junior Launches First Spanish-Language Appisode with “Sofia the First: the Great Aunt-Venture”

A Spanish-language version of the “Sofia the First: The Great Aunt-Venture” appisode is now live in the App Store for $4.99 on the groundbreaking Disney Junior Appisodes app, which allows fans ages 2-7 to touch, tap, swipe, tilt, shake and talk their way through various fun-filled activities embedded into full episodes of some of their favorite Disney Junior shows.

In “Sofia the First: The Great Aunt-Venture,” Sofia reluctantly agrees to help her Aunt Tilly bake a pie, but this is no dull day in the kitchen. In search of the perfect apples, Sofia and Aunt Tilly end up on a journey full of unexpected obstacles that kids can help Sofia navigate, including:

  • Trying on magic jumping shoes
  • Soaring through the sunflower maze
  • Flying through the air on a magic kite
  • Crossing a giant’s gorge to discover the Arabella Orchard
  • Speaking the secret phrase so that the Locus Pocus Map will reveal the Wombeast’s lair

The Disney Junior Appisodes app currently includes a free download of the original “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally” Appisode, as well as additional appisodes for such popular shows as “Sofia the First,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and “Doc McStuffins,” all of which are available for $4.99. Disney/ABC Television Group is Launching Two New Spanish-Language Digital Programming Initiatives

Disney/ABC Television Group is today announcing two new Spanish-language digital programming initiatives: Disney Junior en Español is now live as part of WATCH Disney Junior, marking the first time the network has made an entire block of programming available in Spanish on mobile devices. The network will launch the first Spanish-language appisode with “Sofia the First” this summer.

Disney Junior en Español kicks off with the world premiere of the new “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” episode “Donald Jr.” and includes Spanish-language versions of such popular shows as “Sofia the First,” “Doc McStuffins,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Henry Hugglemonster,” as well as short-form series “Minnie’s Bow-Toons” and “The Doc Files.” Android and Kindle Fire users can also draw, paint and color pages from their favorite Disney Junior shows with Disney Junior Color! en Español.

Developed by Disney/ABC Television Group, WATCH Disney Junior is part of the company’s ground-breaking WATCH services, which make it possible for fans to watch popular shows anytime, anywhere on demand via desktops, connected TVs, smartphones and tablets. Fans who verify with a participating TV provider can access a live stream of Disney Junior, as well as exclusive programming events and the all new Radio Disney Junior. Disney Junior’s Give a Book, Get a Book to Donate Up to One Million Books to U.S. Communities in Need

Disney and First Book will provide for the donation of up to one million books to U.S. communities in need and will present families with free digital books from Disney Publishing Worldwide, through a new program announced today, Disney Junior’s Give a Book, Get a Book. Storytelling is the foundation of the initiative designed to inspire parents and caregivers to spend time each day sharing stories that help develop the critical thinking, vocabulary and language skills a preschooler needs. The program includes a redemption code offering a free Disney Digital book and a way for families to experience giving back by donating books to the community of their choice. Disney Junior’s Give a Book, Get a Book, also includes public service announcements, free storytime events at Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Disney Store locations, and interactive Radio Disney events.

 

The program was announced today by Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide and First Book Board Member, Dr. Martha Bernadett during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at the Disneyland Resort.

Disney Junior Now Available to DISH Network Customers

Following the recent announcement of the groundbreaking, multi-year distribution deal between DISH Network Corp. (NASDAQ: DISH) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), Disney Junior, the popular 24-hour channel expressly for kids age 2-7 and their parents/caregivers, is now available to DISH Network subscribers on channel 168. Disney Junior is available in DISH programming packages including America’s Top 200, America‘s Top 250 and America’s Everything Pak.

Disney Junior is a global, multiplatform brand expressly for kids aged 2-7. Disney Junior invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for young children. Original series include the Annie Award-winning “Sofia the First” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” the Emmy-nominated “Doc McStuffins” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Henry Hugglemonster” and “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West,” as well as the upcoming “Miles From Tomorrowland” and the first Disney Junior Original Movie “Lucky Duck.” Original short-form series include “Minnie’s Bow-Toons,” which follows Minnie Mouse and her pal Daisy as they run Minnie’s Bow-Tique, a specialty shop stocked only with colorful bows and bowties, and “The Doc Files,” an extension of the acclaimed “Doc McStuffins” series, which offers young viewers a glimpse into Doc’s keen deductive skills as she shares an in-depth look at specific cases and diagnoses after the clinic doors close for the day.

Since publicly reporting ratings in April 2013, the 24-hour Disney Junior channel has been the number one preschool-dedicated TV network each week in total viewers, kids aged 2-5 and boys aged 2-5. In January 2014, the channel was home to the top three series across preschooler TV networks with “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West,” “Sofia the First” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.”

The addition of Disney Junior to DISH’s offerings follows last week’s announcement of the availability of WATCH ABC, WATCH ABC Family, WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and Watch ESPN, enabling DISH’s 14 million video subscribers to access live and on-demand news, entertainment and sports programming on computers, smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and other connected devices. Authenticated access to WATCH Disney Junior, SEC ESPN Network and Longhorn Network will launch later this year.

DISNEY JUNIOR LANDS 52 – CONSECUTIVE WEEKS AS #1 PRESCHOOLER CHANNEL

Disney Junior, the 24-hour channel dedicated to kids age 2-7, has surpassed all similarly-targeted channels for 52 consecutive weeks — reigning #1 in Total Viewers, Kids 2-5 and Boys 2-5 — while further elevating the multi-platform Disney Junior brand affinity among kids and parents. The channel launched in March 2012 and began publicly reporting ratings in April 2013. It is available in 76 million U.S. households.
