First Lady Michelle Obama guest stars in “Jessie,” the hit comedy series for kids and tweens, in a storyline that raises awareness about the service, sacrifice and needs of military families. The episode, part of Disney’s long legacy of support for the U.S. Armed Services and the White House’s Joining Forces initiative, premieres FRIDAY, MAY 16 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. A Public Service Announcement also featuring Mrs. Obama accompanies the episode.

This vintage featurette opens by detailing the chess game played between Chewbacca and C-3PO in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The creatures in the game were animated via stop-motion then superimposed onto the chess board, with a visual trick giving them a holographic appearance. The scene took place on the Millennium Falcon, itself a model, photographed by a computer-controlled camera. It was shot stationary on a blue screen, which allowed for different backgrounds and other moving objects to be added later. The same technique was used to create the film’s dogfights and Death Star trench run.
Starting April 20, Anna and Elsa from Disney’s Academy Award-winning film “Frozen” moved from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. They joined some of their fellow Disney Royals at Princess Fairytale Hall, where Disney FastPass+ service will be available for this character greeting experience. Elsa and Anna will appear together each day until the early evening. After nightfall, other visiting Disney Princesses will be available to greet guests. Cinderella and Rapunzel will also continue making appearances at Princess Fairytale Hall. Spring has sprung at Walt Disney World, and with the beautiful blooms of the 21st Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival comes a new event, “A Perfect Petals Brunch featuring the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley,” which comes to World ShowPlace on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
This ticketed event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and will feature the release of a brand new color called “Mickey’s Perfect Petals,” as well as a a special appearance by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, co-founder of Vera Bradley. Guests can purchase tickets at DisneyParksMerchandise.com, and the cost is $125. Admission to Epcot is also required to attend.

LIVE. “Disney Channel Presents The Radio Disney Music Awards,” a television special originating from the event, will be presented Sunday, April 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
