5th Anniversary Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend Finisher Medals Revealed

The fifth anniversary collection of the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend finisher medals were revealed today. The collection includes medals for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K and the runDisney Kids Races. Each half marathon runner that completes the 13.1 mile race will receive a specially designed commemorative medal that has an actual spinning element. Almost 20,000 runners are registered for the race weekend that includes a sold out nighttime half marathon race that starts at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and winds through three Disney theme parks, ending with an exclusive Finish Line Party at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. The race is Nov. 7-8, 2014 at Walt Disney World Resort with the half marathon starting at 10 p.m. ET on Nov. 8, 2014. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Mary Poppins Three Disc Set Available August 26

Walt Disney Records’ newly created line of collectible CDs, Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection, celebrates the anniversaries of Disney’s most cherished and classic films that have been enchanting audiences for generations.

The label honors one of the most celebrated and beloved soundtracks of all time with the 50th anniversary release of the Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Mary Poppins on August 26, 2014.  The Mary Poppins collection features over 2½ hours of content, including the original soundtrack, The Lost Chords – previously released demos and newly recorded versions, plus cast and filmmaker interviews and a collectible 20-page booklet.  Also included are excerpts from the historic “Mary Poppins” story meetings in 1961 with author P.L. Travers, as heard over closing credits of the critically acclaimed film “Saving Mr. Banks.” Grammy® winning producer, Randy Thornton contributed extensive liner notes.

First released in 1964, the Mary Poppins original motion picture soundtrack featured 14 original songs by legendary Disney songwriters Richard and Robert Sherman. The soundtrack was the #1 album for 14 consecutive weeks in 1965, maintaining the #1 position that year longer than the Beatles (Beatles’ 65, Beatles VI, and the Help! soundtrack), Elvis Presley (Roustabout soundtrack), The Rolling Stones (Out of Our Heads) and The Sound of Music soundtrack. “Mary Poppins” won five Oscars®, two of which the Sherman brothers received for “Chim Chim Cher-ee” and the film’s original musical score.

Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure Park Fact Sheet

Walt Disney on creating an amusement park: “We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun – together.”

Overview: Paradise Pier celebrates the lure of the Pacific Coast, which has welcomed countless visitors to its sandy shores. The pier pays tribute to the classic amusement parks that populated the California coast from the beginning of the 20th century through the 1940s. Paradise Pier features vintage-style rides and games, as well as many Victorian-inspired shops and restaurants and is located at Disney California Adventure Park.

What’s new: The nighttime spectacular “World of Color” debuted a new show for the holiday season, starting in 2013. “World of Color – Winter Dreams” features Olaf from Disney’s popular animated feature film “Frozen.” Guests put their gaming skills to the test with the Fun Wheel Challenge, a smart device, Wi-Fi-based game that lets guests compete against each other to control the lights on Mickey’s Fun Wheel for 30 seconds.

Don’t miss: Paradise Pier features several exciting attractions, including California Screamin’, a FastPass attraction that recalls the style of classic wooden roller coasters of the coastal piers. Toy Story Mania!, located underneath the loop of California Screamin’, “shrinks” guests to the size of a toy and tests their skills in a series of 3D carnival games. It features many of the characters from Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” films. An icon of Disney California Adventure Park is Mickey’s Fun Wheel, an extraordinary Ferris wheel with 24 gondolas, some swinging as high as 150 feet in the sky. At night, “World of Color” turns the placid bay in front of Mickey’s Fun Wheel into an animated stage with memorable music and stunning visuals with water, lights and fire.
