Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa Earns Coveted Forbes Travel Guide 2019 Star Award

Forbes Travel Guide recently unveiled its annual Star Rating list, naming Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland® Resort as a new Forbes Travel Guide Star Award winner. As a Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Hotel, it marks the first time the craftsman-style retreat has received this honor and it is the only hotel in Anaheim to earn this distinction.

Built in collaboration with the Reedy Creek Improvement District and Origis Energy USA, a massive new 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility is officially online and providing renewable clean energy to Walt Disney World® Resort!
This facility is expected to generate enough power from the sun to operate two of our four theme parks in Central Florida annually. It will also significantly reduce net greenhouse gas emissions, joining the numerous efforts The Walt Disney Company has launched to deliver its 2020 goal of reducing emissions by 50% compared to 2012.
We will be celebrating this milestone in the coming months and look forward to sharing more details with you real soon. In the meantime, check out this time-lapse video – filmed with a solar-powered camera – to see how the facility has come to life.
It has come a long way since our most recent update last fall, when the first of more than half a million panels was installed! This project is certainly a giant leap forward in our emissions efforts, but it’s not the first. You may have heard about the 22-acre, 5-megawatt solar facility shaped like Mickey Mouse that opened in 2016.
So as you and your Clients make plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort, know that your visit may be partly powered by the sun.
First-of-its-Kind Play Pavilion, New Park Entrance Part of Epcot’s Historic Transformation

As many of you know, Disney has BIG plans for the multi-year transformation of Epcot®, with new experiences that will “wow” you, while keeping true to the original vision of the park. Today, we’re excited to share even more of what’s to come.
The ongoing evolution of Epcot includes plans for a play pavilion that’ll be unlike anything ever seen at the park. This new space will be devoted to playful fun and feature an innovative city that’ll come to life under the dome of the un-named pavilion previously known as Wonders of Life. The pavilion’s city will be bursting with interactive experiences, favorite Disney characters, hands-on activities and engaging entertainment when it opens just in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World® Resort!

There will also be exciting changes to the way you come and go at Epcot. As you can see in the image above, changes are coming to the Epcot main entrance, where the plaza will welcome Guests with new pathways, sweeping green spaces and a newly reimagined fountain. This new design will pay homage to the original park entrance with fresh takes on classic elements.

Anyone who ever aspired to drink with intergalactic droids will soon be in luck: Disney Parks is set to debut a new bar, Oga’s Cantina, a “hotly anticipated” Star Wars attraction, in Florida’s Disney World and California’s Disneyland later this year.
Oga’s Cantina marks the first Disneyland bar serving alcohol to the general public (provided they are over 21, of course). Disney World, on the other hand, actually has a number of places to have a pint, cocktail, or glass of vino.
Why Disney World Is Betting On Clean Energy
“Environmental stewardship and conservation were engrained in The Walt Disney Company from the beginning,” Angie Renner recently told me. Angie is an Environmental Integration Director at Walt Disney World Resort, and today she says the company is investing in new technologies and renewable energy projects that have thus far cut greenhouse gas emissions nearly in half.
