Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Tips for Disneyland Reservations

If you are one of the lucky guests who have a reservation for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge between now and June 23 here are some tips that may help you out as you plan your day.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Bracelet/Band Tips

  1. You CAN pick up your SWGE bracelet/bands at Launch Bay prior to 2 hours before your reservation time.  If you arrive exactly 2 hours prior there will be a line.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Line-Up/Entry Tips

  1. If your entrance to SWGE is via Critter Country…..Arrive at that location about an hour prior to your SWGE reservation time.  The cast members will tell you to come back right at your entry time and you will be able to walk right in.  That is correct, but you will then be behind 1,000 – 2,000 people who they already escorted in earlier.  Which leads to….
  2. At the Critter Country entrance there is NO QUEUE LINE.  They encourage you to come back later, but they have been letting guests begin to enter the long path around 30 – 40 minutes prior to reservation time as the area in front of Critter Country becomes too congested.
  3. Once you see them start to allow guests down the path toward SWGE move toward the front

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Getting to Savi’s Workshop Tips

  1. You will need to be toward the front of the line to get into Savi’s Workshop so make sure to follow all tips above.
  2. STAY TO THE LEFT OF THE GROUP as they walk the herd of people past Rise of the Resistance Area and then past the Marketplace. You will see a large round building and a ramp.  Look to the left for a large blue vertical flag.  That is Savi’s Workshop.  Leave the herd and veer into that area to get in line.  There will be a wait just to pre-pay and get a return time to come back.  That has ranged anywhere from 30 minutes to 3.5 hours.  When you return there may be an additional wait as the other group(s) will still have to enter the experience and build their lightsabers.  Savi’s only has build stations for 14 people at a time and each process takes roughly 30 – 45 minutes.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Getting to Droid Depot Tips

  1. STAY TO THE LEFT OF THE GROUP as they walk the herd of people past Rise of the Resistance Area and then past the Marketplace. You will see a large round building and a ramp.  Look to the left for a large blue vertical flag.  That is Savi’s Workshop.  The next building on the path on the left is Droid Depot.  Leave the herd and veer into that area to get in line.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Ride Tips

  1. The tip for riding depends on your personality.  If you are outgoing, want the most action, and enjoy pressure, try to be one of the two pilots.  They sit in the front of the cockpit and have the best view and the most interaction during the ride.  The second tier of seats are for the gunners.  You have the second best view and your job consists of either manually firing or an automatic firing so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.  The least favorable position is the engineer.  Those are the furthest away from the front and honestly you have very little to do.  I won’t go into exact details as I want guests to experience it yourself.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Getting to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Tips

  1. This is a crap shoot because we have gone multiple times and each time they did something slightly different.  I would wait to hear the directions that day from the Cast Members, or ask them while in line what the process will be.  As far as location, it sits behind Savi’s Workshop & just past Oga’s Cantina.  Most likely they will escort the herd PAST Savi’s Workshop, Droid Depot, through an overpass and then down an exit path in the First Order area.  Here is where things get tricky.  Hold your position as you start walking down the path and suddenly will make a U-Turn and head back up the path.  People will try to cut in as you make the turn.  They will then lead the line towards Oga’s Cantina. Again, they may have a new route as they learn more about how to best deal with the crowds.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Getting to Oga’s Cantina Tips

  1. STAY TO THE RIGHT OF THE GROUP.  It sits behind Savi’s Workshop & just past The First Order area. The cast members will then lead the line towards Oga’s Cantina.
  2. They have tried several methods for reservations so far but the one that seems to have had the most success is by escorting the group as listed above and then feed into a somewhat orderly line.  From there they will ask that only ONE PERSON from your group stay in line.  You will then be directed to a cast member who will take your name and phone number.  You will receive a text message verifying that you are wanting to wait to enter Oga’s Cantina and are then provided with an approximate time to return.  This allows you a rough idea as to what else you would like to do in SWGE before you are texted back to return.
  3. Once you receive the text to return you simply head back to Oga’s Cantina within 15 min and show the cast member your confirmation text.  The wait from that point may be another 5 – 15 minutes prior to entry.

Overall Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Tips

  1. Get your bracelet/band at Launch Bay prior to 2 hour time window
  2. Arrive at Critter Country at least 45 minutes prior to your reservation time
  3. Overall most popular choice was Savi’s Workshop – Send one person from your group to Savi’s first thing if you want to build a lightsaber. The reservation times “sell out” in about the first 15 minutes of your 4 hour block.
  4. Second most popular choice was Oga’s Cantina – Send one person from your group to the Cantina line queue line to get a return time for later on.  This would be number one except that Savi’s Workshop is so small and so limited it makes that a must do if you are into a custom lightsaber experience
  5. Third most popular choice was Millennium Falcon:  Smugglers Run.  Our experience was to wait on this attraction as after one reservation group left the wait times dropped significantly.  You should do this toward the end of your reservation time frame
  6. Droid Depot lines were steady but unless you don’t care about the first three choices you can hold off on this until later in your reservation time.
  7. Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities – is the place that could jump up to number one if you want a Legacy lightsaber or you cannot get in to Savi’s Workshop.  These are pre-built but equally as awesome as the ones in Savi’s Workshop.  Here you can also see all sorts of Easter Eggs from previous films as well as additional merchandise.
  8. Shopping, Food, and character interactions can be done whenever you feel the need or can fit it in.
  9. PhotoPass – Even if you aren’t prepared to pay for a PhotoPass picture make sure to ask for a card.  It is a cool collectible AND is free!
  10. Download the Disney PLAY app.  There is so much you can do with the app, and it does make your visit to Batuu a fun experience.  I would suggest to play on a second trip into SWGE not your first time.  You will be overwhelmed as it is so we would suggest holding off on it for now.
