“Frozen” Sisters Elsa and Anna Welcome Girls, Inc. to Celebrate National Sisters Day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

To celebrate National Sisters Day, Walt Disney World Resort welcomed a group of strong, smart and bold Central Florida girls to share the spirit of sisterhood with two like-minded Disney heroines – Elsa and Anna. Highlighting the friendship and empowerment of sisterhood – a theme of the popular Disney movie “Frozen” members of the nonprofit group, Girls, Inc. were part of today’s “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE” experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The 12 girls, ages 8-12, enjoyed front-row views of the special sing-along moment and “Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome” procession. Besides belting out “Let It Go” during the theme park’s sing along experience, the “sisters in spirit” took part in wintery fun such as playing in the snow and working together to build a snowman

“With the chance to strengthen their friendships and try exciting new things, this special Frozen experience was the ideal way for our girls to celebrate National Sisters Day,” said Kay Fields, president and CEO of Girls, Inc. “We’re grateful to Walt Disney World Resort for this opportunity, as well as their support for our work on behalf of local girls.”

Known for providing girls with opportunities to lead, achieve and fearlessly tackle life’s challenges, Girls, Inc. inspires girls to be strong, smart and bold. With mentors to guide them and peers who share their drive and aspiration, girls benefit from the organization’s encouraging, girls-only environment and research-based programming.

“With its emphasis on education and leadership, Girls, Inc. provides life-changing experiences and real solutions to the unique challenges girls face,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of corporate citizenship for Walt Disney World Resort. “We’re proud to share Disney’s magic with an organization that emboldens girls of all ages to bravely pursue their dreams.”

This year, Girls, Inc. was one of 87 local organizations that received $3.8 million in financial support through Disney Grants, the company’s signature giving program. The group received $42,000 for programs that encourage girls’ academic achievement and character development, as well as promoting literacy and cultural arts.

With its longstanding commitment to improving the quality of life in Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort takes a special interest in supporting local organizations like Girls. Inc., which help build children’s character, nurture their education and strengthen families.

Frozen Summer Fun To Stay Through September

The “Frozen” fun of Arendelle won’t melt away on Labor Day, as “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been extended through Sept. 28, 2014.

Frozen summer fun2

The popularity of the icy special event prompted Anna, Elsa, Olaf and their polar pals to extend their stay at the Walt Disney World Resort theme park beyond Sept. 1, 2014 (the originally announced closing date for the event).

“Frozen,” a comedy-adventure presented by Walt Disney Animation Studios, is the highest grossing animated film of all time.

Fans of “Frozen” have been flocking to the flurry of fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since July 5, enjoying immersive experiences like the “For The First Time in Forever: A ‘Frozen’ Sing-Along Celebration” and ice skating (on real ice!) inside Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland. Anna, Elsa & Kristoff are also welcomed by guests daily in an 11 a.m. processional down Hollywood Boulevard while ice cutters, skaters and skiers join the cavalcade.

Nearly all of the event’s components will continue daily, with the exception of the “Frozen Fireworks” spectacular. The fireworks show will be presented each night (except August 23) through September 1, and then on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only from September 5-28.

Most activities in “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!” are included in regular park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
