Patrick Mahomes Hits the Super Bowl Jackpot with NFL Championship and Celebratory Trip to Disneyland Resort

PARADISE, NV (Feb. 11, 2024)– As the euphoria of Kansas City’s Super Bowl win continued to swirl around Allegiant Stadium near Las Vegas on Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes once again made that jubilant declaration that has become so iconic after every Super Bowl victory: “I’m Going to Disneyland!’’ This is the third time Mahomes has been named Super Bowl MVP and the third time he has been featured in the famous commercial.

Mahomes’s post-game proclamation is the centerpiece of Disney’s annual Super Bowl commercial airing on major TV networks and social media sites nationwide in English and Spanish.

But that on-field moment is just the beginning of the celebration. The Super Bowl festivities are moving to Disneyland Resort in California on Monday where Mahomes will be the leading man in a colorful and high-energy cavalcade through Disneyland Park. Guests at the park can catch all of the action as the celebratory cavalcade moves down Main Street, U.S.A., at 2 pm PT.

Afterwards, Mahomes will spend the afternoon with family and friends experiencing the park’s most popular attractions, interacting with beloved Disney characters and generally having a super-sized Disney experience.

It’s the most magical way for Mahomes to celebrate his team’s Super Bowl title. He led the Chiefs to a 25-22 overtime win over San Francisco in the biggest game of the year. Mahomes threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman with three seconds left in overtime. His 333 passing yards and two passing touchdowns catapulted his team to the win and launched him into the annals of Disney’s Super Bowl history with his inclusion in the national TV spot and Disneyland Resort trip.

Mahomes is once again joining a long list of other NFL heavyweights who have been a part of Disney’s long-standing Super Bowl tradition that began in 1987 when New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms first appeared in the commercial following his team’s Super Bowl win.

1900 Park Fare Reopens April 10 at Disney’s Grand Floridian

February 8, 2024

1900 Park Fare is re-opening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on April 10. This iconic restaurant will feature returning guest favorites along with a newly refurbished dining room and other special touches.

Here are five things guests can look forward to when they visit:

  1. Wish Upon a Star with Favorite Disney Characters

Because meals are best enjoyed alongside friends, a few familiar faces will stop by throughout breakfast and dinner –some for the first time at this location! In this refreshed character dining experience, guests will be joined by Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Cinderella, Mirabel and Tiana in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as they celebrate the power of a wish.

  1. Enjoy a Feast Fit for Royalty

An enchanting buffet will be served for breakfast and dinner, featuring some guest favorites — yes, that includes the strawberry soup! — along with new menu offerings dreamed up by our talented chefs to pay tribute to some of the characters and stories guests will encounter throughout the restaurant.

  1. Look for Nods to the Restaurant’s Heritage

Fans of 1900 Park Fare will remember Big Bertha, an antique organ that has called the resort home since 1988. Guests can look for her in the Main Dining Room, where she’s on display as its grand centerpiece!

Just like before, carousel theming is woven throughout the restaurant — starting with the impressive new mural shown above, which will serve as the focal point of the restaurant’s entrance. In one of the adjoining dining rooms, guests will find drawings of carousel animals inspired by classic Disney films like “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Little Mermaid.”

  1. Delight in Exclusive New Artwork

The artistic touches continue throughout the Main Dining Room, where guests will find twelve new portraits created exclusively for the restaurant by Disney artists. Each one, inspired by the impressionist art style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, features a different Disney character as they hope, dream and wish upon a star (or even a magic lamp or a wishing well).

  1. Celebrate Traditions and Create New Ones

Over the years, 1900 Park Fare has been the backdrop of so many of our guests’ favorite vacation memories. At the heart of this unique restaurant is the magic and whimsy of turn-of-the-century gardens and fairgrounds, where people of all ages came together to enjoy each other’s company. The spirit of those carefree days spent outdoors is brought to life with each detail big and small, making it the perfect place for guests to create new memories with loved ones.

Reservations for 1900 Park Fare open on March 5 at DisneyWorld.com

While guests are there, they can explore other ways the resort has been receiving some grand touches that build upon its Victorian elegance with additional storybook charm. While staying in one of the newly refurbished Guest rooms, guests can also dine underneath the lovely London sky at Cítricos, inspired by “Mary Poppins Returns” or enjoy some shimmering sips at Enchanted Rose Lounge, inspired by “Beauty and the Beast.” Recently refreshed spaces at Narcoossee’s and Victoria & Albert’s, the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort, provide even more ways to be our Guest and enjoy all that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has to offer.

There’s even more to come as we continue to refresh and enhance Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and we can’t wait to share more with guests in the future.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Debut Bahamian-Inspired Designer Outfits

January 24, 2024

Mickey and Minnie Mouse will have new looks specially designed by acclaimed Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett whenever they visit Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera. The garments will have a distinct Bahamian flair, inspired by the bright, colorful spirit of Junkanoo, the country’s signature festival filled with joyous music and vibrant parades.

Inspired by the beauty of his homeland, Theodore’s creations reflect the culture and colorful hues of island life. His designs are seen on the likes of Miss Universe contestants, celebrities, brides, cover girls, and government officials just to name a few. Soon, Theodore’s latest work will adorn two of our favorite icons: Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

Theodore grew up in Nassau, The Bahamas, surrounded by art and fashion. His mother owned her own sewing factory, and he started making dresses at an early age. Theodore’s designs first hit the runway when he was just 13 years old, in 1998—the very year Disney Cruise Line set sail. He went on to design for Miss Bahamas contestants and Miss Bahamas Universe, and the rest is history.

When Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point opens in June of 2024, Theodore’s work will hit an exciting, new runway—a celebration of Bahamian culture straight from the eyes of the country’s artists. At Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Mickey and Minnie’s looks will be part of a collection of colorful works of art by local creators, which guests will experience throughout the new island destination.

“The beauty of Mickey and Minnie’s looks are that they are literally ‘Junkanoo Fun in the Sun,’” Theodore said. “When you talk about the print, pattern, color, texture of Junkanoo, they’ve got that.”

Raffia, a natural material made from the leaves of Raffia palm trees, is typically used in The Bahamas to decorate accessories and Eleuthera is known for its pineapples. These details can be found in both Mickey and Minnie’s looks!

Theodore will also design special styles for Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale to wear while enjoying the natural beauty of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point! Be sure to stay tuned for the final looks and to follow along with all the details of this exciting retreat debuting in summer 2024.

First Look at New Disney Treasure ‘Moana’ Show

January 12, 2024

We’re excited to share more details about “Disney The Tale of Moana,” which will debut exclusively at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Treasure in December 2024. With set design and music bursting with elements of Pacific Island cultures which inspire the classic coming-of-age tale, this innovative production will immerse audiences in a transformational adventure across land and sea.

Read on for more details and a sneak peek of how “Disney The Tale of Moana” will come to life in the first stage adaptation inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film.

Towering Puppets Take Stage

To create puppetry that soars to mythical heights, Disney Live Entertainment Creative Director of puppetry and articulation, Jeff Conover, teamed up with master puppet designer Michael Curry, whose creations are featured in Disney’s Tony Award-winning musical “The Lion King” on Broadway. Te Kā, the massive, fiery villain guarding Te Fiti, will be a puppet of a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te Kā and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te Kā puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself.

Practice Your “Warrior Face”

The stage show will also include a brand new song, “Warrior Face,” performed by Moana and Maui when the demigod teaches Moana how to face her fears before entering the Realm of the Monsters to face Tamatoa. “Warrior Face” will join classic favorites from the Grammy-Award winning soundtrack in the stage show, including “You’re Welcome,” “We Know The Way” and “How Far I’ll Go.”

Setting the Scene in “Innocent Warrior”

“Disney The Tale of Moana” will begin in modern day on the fictional island of Motunui, in a set design filled with hints of brilliant Pacific Island cultures that will appear throughout the show. The spirit of Gramma Tala, our narrator, will introduce her granddaughter, while through vibrant dance and songs in a mix of languages including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan and Samoan, we will learn how the ocean chooses young Moana for an incredible journey to restore the heart of Te Fiti.

Transforming The Walt Disney Theatre in “How Far I’ll Go”

In this iconic scene, The Walt Disney Theatre will transform from the island of Motunui into the open ocean as Moana’s journey moves from her home to the great voyage that she’s longed for her entire life. Twinkling stars will swirl overhead and a giant, glowing manta ray will emerge and soar above the audience as a newfound sense of courage fills Moana. The manta ray is the spirit of Gramma Tala, lighting up the sea to accompany Moana on her journey to save her people.

This show looks stunning, and we know our guests cannot wait to see Moana’s incredible story unfold in a new way on the Disney Treasure! “Disney The Tale of Moana” will join a dazzling lineup of fan-favorite shows like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” in the Walt Disney Theatre. Stay tuned for more details about the Disney Treasure as we count down the days until it sets sail in December 2024.
