Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes ‘Going to Disney World!’ Monday Following Kansas City Chiefs’ Thrilling Super Bowl LIV Victory

With cheers and confetti still filling the air following the Kansas City Chiefs’ long-awaited victory Sunday in Super Bowl LIV, the game’s Most Valuable Player, Patrick Mahomes, shouted that famous phrase that has become an iconic moment of every Super Bowl: “I’m going to Disney World!”

On Monday, Mahomes will be whisked from Miami to Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando where he will participate in a celebratory parade at Magic Kingdom Park after starring in Disney’s traditional Super Bowl TV commerical. The celebration marks another chapter in Disney’s enduring Super Bowl campaign that began in 1987 when Disney celebrated the New York Giants’ Super Bowl win that year.

Adding to the magical moment, this year’s celebration has a new twist. As the presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP ceremony, Disney Parks for the first time is inviting one Make-A-Wish child – Nathaniel, 10, from Texas – to join Mahomes in the parade down Main Street, U.S.A. in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. In addition, 17 other Make-A-Wish children, whose wishes were to attend the Super Bowl, are also extending their magical wishes by visiting Magic Kingdom Park on Monday.

The inclusion of Make-A-Wish this year with Disney’s Super Bowl campaign is an extension of Disney’s commitment to deliver comfort and inspiration to children facing serious illnesses. That commitment also includes the just-announced Disney Parks donation of $1 million to Make-A-Wish in honor of Mahomes as part of Disney Parks’ designation as presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP ceremony.

The first official wish granted for a Make-A-Wish child involved a trip to Disneyland Resort nearly 40 years ago. Currently, Disney helps to grant more than 10,000 wishes each year for children around the world.

The post-Super Bowl trip to Walt Disney World Resort will likely be a wish-come-true for the Make-A-Wish child similar to the dream-come-true night for Mahomes and the Chiefs, who won their first Super Bowl in 50 years. Mahomes rallied Kansas City from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win the big game, 31-20, leading the furious comeback with two touchdown passes. He hit Travis Kelce for a 1-yard score with 6:13 remaining, then on the Chiefs’ next possession found Damien Williams out of the backfield for what would prove to be the game-clinching touchdown. Mahomes finished with 286 yards passing and two TD passes, plus 29 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Mahomes’ performance will be part of Disney’s Super Bowl commercial that is airing on network and cable TV across the United States, as well as social media channels. His name is now added to the long list of marquee Super Bowl stars who have been a part of Disney’s long-running Super Bowl campaign.

Restaurant Spotlight: Handmade Pasta and More at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant

Nestled at the front of Main Street, U.S.A., Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is one of the hidden gems of Magic Kingdom® Park. Here, youcan relive the romance of Disney’s 1995 animated classic “Lady and the Tramp” in a charming turn-of-the-century trattoria where the famous love-struck pups shared their first plate of spaghetti and meatballs. With its whitewash balustrades, French doors, and expansive front porch, Tony’s classic Italian restaurant is the perfect spot for hopeless romantics and pasta-lovers alike!

You can start your meal off with one (or more!) dishes from the antipasti menu like the Caprese with vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. Or if they’re looking for a light seafood appetizer, Tony’s is also known for their crispy calamari served with spicy house-made pickles and herb aïoli.

For the main course, you will find a variety of Italian dishes such as pizza pies, meatballs, and a variety of pastas. Tony’s pizza pies come topped with a blend of cheeses as well as a choice of pepperoni, sausage, or garden vegetables and make for a perfect shareable entrée! The Roman-style steak is another great option with spinach and ricotta ravioli, heirloom tomatoes, wilted chard, hazelnut, and lemon Parmesan crema, or you can chow down on the classic chicken parmigiana featuring lightly-breaded chicken breast topped with provolone and Tony’s marinara sauce served over freshly-made thin spaghetti and local vegetables.

Of course, they won’t want to miss out on the pasta! You can choose from options like chicken fettuccine alfredo or ravioli and house-made gnocchi primavera, both topped with their choice of grilled chicken breast or grilled jumbo shrimp. The scampi pasta is also a popular dish which features fresh linguine pasta made from scratch in-house and tossed with shrimp, classic butter sauce, Parmesan, and fresh vegetables.

And they can never go wrong with good ol’ spaghetti and meatballs! The freshly-made thin spaghetti can be topped with their choice or hand-rolled pork-beef meatballs or Italian sausage. If you are looking for a plant-based option, they can even order mushroom meatballs!

For dessert, they can end their meal with a sweet treat that they won’t forget. Some options include a cannoli with ricotta cream-filled shells and powdered sugar or the Tiramisù featuring espresso-soaked sponge cake layered with mascarpone sweet cream and served with chocolate sauce. There’s even a yummy chocolate cupcake option for the kiddos!

Whether it’s for lunch or dinner, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is a must-try spot for you when visiting Magic Kingdom Park.
