San Diego Comic-Con fans may have returned to their humdrum lives from last month’s gathering, but another group of superfans are about to assemble.

‘Frozen’ was kind of a big deal. Not only is it the highest grossing animated film of all time thanks to its eye-watering haul of $1.2 billion, but it also became a pop culture phenomenon thanks to its soundtrack.
In celebration of D23 EXPO 2015, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is devoting its Fall publication of Disney twenty-three to some of the remarkable things guests will get to see and experience at the biennial event. And as The Walt Disney Company readies for the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, readers will get an in-depth look at the amazing new park set to open next year—including spectacular concept artwork and a look at some of the new attractions being built right now in China.
Also in the Fall issue, available exclusively to D23 Gold Members, two of the members of the original Toy Story team reflect back on the earliest stages of the beloved film, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, including an unexpected encounter the film’s art director, Ralph Eggleston, had with Disney Legend and Apple founder, Steve Jobs.
In addition, the talented artists at Marvel and creative minds at Walt Disney Imagineering teamed up to create what is now a wildly successful line of new comic books based on theme park favorites—Disney Kingdoms. Disney twenty-three looks at the three current titles—Figment, Big Thunder Mountain, and Seekers of the Weird—and gives readers a peek at what’s to come.
Also included in the Fall issue of Disney twenty-three:

In addition to its chart-topping Billboard debut, the album ranked No. 1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack chart, No. 1 on the Children’s chart and No. 1 on both the Digital Album and Top Albums charts. The album also fast-tracked its way to No. 1 on the iTunes Album Overall and Soundtrack charts. Additionally, combined views for all videos on VEVO exceed 25 million, and the focus track “Rotten to the Core” has over 12.7 million views to date.
Disney Channel’s premiere and encore telecasts of “Descendants” reached 15.5 million Total Viewers, including over 6 million Kids 6-11 and nearly 5 million Tweens 9-14. Disney’s “Descendants” stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains. With a knowing wink at traditional fairy tales, the live-action movie fuses castles with classrooms to create a contemporary, music-driven story about the challenges in living up to parental and peer expectations. The notable cast also includes Mitchell Hope, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Maz Jobrani, Kathy Najimy and the Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth. Emmy Award-winning Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical”) directs, choreographs and executive-produces Disney’s “Descendants.”
In addition to songs performed in the film and the end credit song “Believe” by Shawn Mendes, the soundtrack also includes bonus tracks from the recently announced short-form series “Descendants Wicked World.” The four original dance songs include a retro-soul “Rotten to the Core” remix performed by Sofia Carlson; “Night Is Young” performed by China Anne McClain; “Good Is the New Bad” performed by Dove Cameron, Sofia Caron and China Anne McClain; and “I’m Your Girl” performed by Felicia Barton.

The premise for the latest Disney Channel movie may be one of the coolest ever. Disney’s DESCENDANTS, now on DVD, focuses on the life of the children of our favorite heroes and villains. How awesome is that? The teenage kids of Maleficent (Kristin Chenoweth-amazing as always), the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil are invited to attend prep school alongside the children of Belle and Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Mulan, and the rest of the heroes. First of all, I think the costuming is incredible. You can tell right away who the parent would be by the way the teens are dressed. Now this isn’t in a costume sort of way–more of a fashionable hint. If you are familiar with DisneyBounding, then you will have the idea. I think these fashion pieces should be in the stores asap for teens/young adults. It is very cool. Next, Disney’s DESCENDANTS has all of the fantastic musical numbers you would expect from a Disney production. “Rotten to the Core” kicks off the show and sets the tone for the villains. (This song is currently playing on Radio Disney). Maleficent has a wonderfully evil song and Dove Cameron as her daughter, Mal, has the lead in several songs. Watching these heroic and villainous teens interact may not look too different from your average high school campus. There is a internal and external battle between good and evil for these kids. Again, much like the hallways of your local school. The Bonus Features include Backstage Dance Rehearsals with Director Kenny Ortega, the always hilarious Blooper reel, and #Mal, a peek into Mal’s social media life. Disney’s DESCENDANTS is a unique look at the stories we all know and love. Next time you watch a Disney classic or a new release, ask yourself, “What happens next?” Your answer may take you on a whole new adventure.
