One of Downtown Disney’s original restaurants is undergoing a major renovation that will expand its quick-service section and add more menu options.
La Brea Bakery, the restaurant that sits closest to the Disney theme parks, began a makeover Jan. 3 that is expected to be completed in April.
The counter-service side of the restaurant already is boarded up and closed for renovations, while the full-service area remains open in the entertainment-shopping district. The entire restaurant will shut down for about three weeks starting in mid March.
La Brea opened in 2001 when Downtown Disney debuted in a building that was already designed as a Disney restaurant. The original La Brea Bakery opened in 1989 as a 1,500-square-foot storefront in Los Angeles and now is a company that sells bread worldwide.
