Everyone knows that there are better times to visit Walt Disney World than others. Many people wouldn’t dream of going during the summer months or Christmastime because of weather, ride wait times and the amount of people you’ll have to wade through at the parks. However, there are also those who do not wish to pull their children out of school in order to take their trip. Scott Donahue, author of this book, is a middle school teacher who has braved the peak season crowds and compiled notes and tips that would make trips much more enjoyable during these hectic times at the World.
In the book, Scott has laid out every detail a family will need to plan their peak season trip. You will find all of the peak times listed as well as attendance levels, weather details, special events, ticket prices, transportation information, and more. But, before you stop and think, “hey, isn’t this info in all of the Walt Disney World guide books?”, this is only a fraction of the information compiled in this book. The “meat” of the book is on how to spend your time at the parks wisely. Scott lists many “Do’s and Don’ts” for the parks to make the trip as stress free as possible. One section I found particularly useful for guests who haven’t been to Walt Disney World was the section on what rides or attractions they should use a FastPass on. This is an invaluable tool considering the fact that you can only use one at a time. Why waste it on a ride or attraction that didn’t have a long wait to begin with? The tips for parades are also useful. These are huge crowd gatherers, and having the tips and tricks on attending them are important to getting the most out of the event. Another tricky area for novice Walt Disney World travelers is dining. No too worry, however, this book includes information on that also.
Scott Donahue and his family’s 13 plus trips during peak seasons prove that you don’t have to suffer through the crowds and heat. His experience is sure to guide you through an incredible vacation, no matter what time of year it is.
