STAR WARS-THEMED LANDS COME TO LIFE AS CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD AND DISNEYLAND RESORTS

We’re excited to share an update on the progress of the Star Wars-themed lands being created at Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts!

As you may know, these two new immersive lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life and where Guests will find themselves in the middle of the action.

We’re also creating two incredible new signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

There is so much activity across our 14-acre construction sites as this new world is created. Here’s a look at how things are shaping up!

Walt Disney World continues construction on new ‘Star Wars’ land — and the latest update is awesome

“Star Wars” fans are anxiously (okay, desperately) awaiting the release of the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer. It won’t arrive for at least another month, but the Walt Disney World team knows fans need something to tide ’em over — and they did not disappoint!

2019 Can’t Come Soon Enough for Disney World and Disneyland

We’re now just two years away from the arrival of Star Wars Land on both coasts, and Disney’s(NYSE: DIS)domestic theme-park resorts could use a boost. On Tuesday, the media giant announced a 5% year-over-year decline in attendance for its latest quarter, but it also announced that Star Wars Land will begin greeting sci-fi buffs of all ages come 2019.

STAR WARS-THEMED LANDS AT DISNEY PARKS SET TO OPEN IN 2019

We are excited to announce that our new Star Wars-themed lands at Disneyland® Park in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in Florida will be opening in 2019!

As we’ve previously shared, the Star Wars-themed lands are the largest-ever, single-themed land expansions at Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts. At each location, guests will be transported to a never-before-seen planet – a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space – where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. Here’s a glimpse at one of the signature attractions which lets guests take the controls of the Millennium Falcon!

EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT DISNEY PARKS’ STAR WARS-THEMED LAND

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, I was excited about the prospect of more Star Wars films, obviously, but I couldn’t stop thinking about what the acquisition meant for Disney Parks. Star Wars already had a presence in the parks with Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Jedi Training Academy, and special events, but oh, the potential—especially after seeing the level of immersion Imagineering nailed with Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure.

STAR WARS-THEMED LAND AT DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS TO DAZZLE AT NIGHT, PLUS NEW STAR TOURS ADVENTURE COMING!

Today we’re excited to share a new image from Walt Disney Imagineering that shows just how amazing the Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® at Walt Disney World® Resort will look once the sun goes down.

As you can see, the land will take on a whole new dimension after dark and feature adventures and surprises around each corner. If you look close, the image reveals a peek at what guests will discover in this all-new land, including one of the signature attractions that lets guests take the controls of the Millennium Falcon.

Work is already underway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, Calif., to bring the stories from a galaxy, far, far away to life in the parks.

We’re also excited to share that Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm teams are currently in production to add an exciting new mission to the Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction, based on elements from Star Wars Episode VIII.

Disneyland Is Developing Star Wars VR Rides

Epic Games co-founder Tim Sweeney today announced that Disney is working on Star Wars VR rides for its parks. He said as much during his keynote talk at the 2016 Steam Dev Days conference in Seattle. It was just a small tease, though it’s already got us thinking of how cool an updated version of classic simulator Star Tours would be.

Star Wars Land Update: How Stormtrooper Battle Escape Will Be Different From Every Other Ride

As construction on Star Wars Land has gone vertical in Anaheim, we are beginning to learn more information about Disneyland’s upcoming immersive spaceport experience. The ride queues for the land’s two E-ticket attractions will feel less like a long line and more like a storytelling experience that brings park visitors through many different environments.

DISNEY IS WORKING TO BRING INTERACTIVE DROIDS TO ITS STAR WARS PARK

One of the big questions asked when Disney acquired LucasFilm and the Star Wars franchise was what that would mean for the Disneyland and Disneyworld theme parks. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take Disney long to start weaving the space opera into the attractions.
